The reminders aren't firing. What's wrong?
Make sure the extension is On (the timer should show "● Running" in the popup). If you have Work Hours Mode enabled, check that the current time falls within your configured work hours. Also confirm that Chrome notifications are allowed in your OS settings (System Settings → Notifications → Chrome).
Webcam detection isn't working. The timer doesn't pause when I leave.
First, make sure you've granted camera access to the extension. Go to Settings → Webcam detection → toggle On — Chrome will prompt for camera permission. If you previously denied it, go to chrome://settings/content/camera and allow access for the extension. The webcam uses face detection, so make sure your face is reasonably visible to the camera.
How do I reset my streak or break count?
At the moment there's no manual reset button. Your streak resets automatically if you miss a day. Your break count resets automatically at midnight each day. To fully reset all data, you can go to chrome://extensions, find SitLess, click the three dots → "Remove", then reinstall from the Chrome Web Store.
The overlay keeps appearing during my video calls.
SitLess automatically detects common meeting URLs (Google Meet, Zoom, Teams, Webex) and snoozes the reminder for 10 minutes. If you use a different meeting platform, you can manually click "⏸ Snooze 5 min" on the overlay, or turn the extension Off temporarily from the popup header.
Can I use SitLess without the webcam?
Yes, absolutely. Webcam detection is completely optional. Without it, the timer runs continuously and pauses only when your computer goes idle (no mouse/keyboard activity for 5 minutes) or when you click "Stood Up" on the overlay.
Does SitLess use a lot of battery or memory?
Without webcam: almost nothing — a Chrome alarm fires once per minute and the rest is idle. With webcam: MediaPipe runs face detection locally, which uses a small amount of CPU. On most modern machines this is unnoticeable. You can disable webcam detection if you notice any impact.
Is my camera footage stored or sent anywhere?
No. The camera feed is processed entirely on your device using MediaPipe. No frames, images, or biometric data ever leave your browser. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
How do I change the language?
Open the extension popup → go to the ⚙️ Settings tab → find the Language dropdown at the top. Choose from 11 available languages. The change takes effect immediately.
